What Is Lateral Entry In B.Tech? Bachelor of Technology/ B.Tech Lateral Entry (LE) is one of the most sought courses as most of the students have completed their diplomas in engineering and now want to pursue B Tech degree/lateral entry engineering. These students are eligible for lateral entry program which means direct admission in second year. It has been made possible by regulatory bodies as to avoid wastage of time. B Tech first year is similar to what students have learned while doing diploma. So, if anyone who is dreaming of becoming an engineer, and has completed their diploma is eligible for B.Tech lateral entry programs. All India Council of technical education (AICTE) set guidelines and rules for this course.

B.Tech Lateral Entry Courses After Diploma

There are various engineering specialisations (UGC Approved) for which lateral entry (Direct entry into 2nd year) is considered. Following are some examples: Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & communication engineering, Mechanical & Automobile Engineering, Computer Science Engineering. Although, the course path for B.Tech LE is different from regular B.Tech as former is made more as per industry standard and curriculum keeps on getting updated.

Facilities Given To The Students?

B.Tech LE (Lateral Entry) students get direct entry into second year. This is the only difference. University conducts classes that are held by industry experts. These classes are also recorded and shared on Learning Management System. Classes are conducted in University as well as in regional offices. Lateral entry students can attend regular classes with regular students.

The only difference would be that diploma holders would get direct entry into second year and everything will remain similar like with regular students. AICTE approved universities offering B Tech lateral entry provide learning management system where students are able to find E-Books, assignments, Recorded lectures and more. This is like a virtual classroom where each and every query can also be solved through direct connect with the professors. Even candidates can attend weekend classes where they can discuss with industry experts and can get industry insights.
